Who we are
Stoic Days (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a personal lifestyle app for keeping a day count and a quiet practice journal — often used by people keeping alcohol-free or substance-free days. It is not a clinic, hospital, counsellor, or emergency service, and it does not diagnose or treat any condition.
For crisis guidance and FAQ, see Support. For how you may use the app and Stoic Days Plus, see Terms of Use.
The short version
- Your day records, pledges, reflections, journal notes, and savings settings are stored on your device (via the app’s local store).
- We do not run Stoic Days as an advertising business. The app does not include advertising SDKs or ad trackers.
- There is no public social feed of your practice.
- Optional Stoic Days Plus purchases are processed by Apple. We receive entitlement information needed to unlock Plus — not your full payment card details.
- You can export and delete your local data from the app’s data controls.
What the app stores on your device
Depending on how you use Stoic Days, on-device data may include:
- Practice start date and day-count history
- Morning commitments (pledges) and optional if–then notes
- Evening reflections (including simple mood / yes–no–partial answers and optional notes)
- Savings settings (for example spending rate and currency) and related calculations shown in the app
- Standard milestone marks you keep; custom marks if you use Plus
- Optional journal notes and favourited library passages
- Preferences: appearance, reminders, Privacy Mode / discreet wording, glance and widget-related settings
- If you turn on App lock (Plus): an app passcode kept in the iPhone Keychain on this device (Face ID can unlock too)
- An optional personal photo as the app background (Plus)
This data is meant to live locally so the companion works without sending your journal to our servers as a social or analytics product.
Free tools and Stoic Days Plus
Privacy does not change which tools are free. For clarity, here is how the product is built:
Always free (no subscription required)
- Day counter
- Morning commitment / pledge
- Evening reflection
- Basic savings (including multi-currency support)
- Standard milestone marks
- Emergency and support links
- Ninety-second Pause (on iPhone; Pause is also available on Apple Watch)
- Export and delete your data (JSON export and local delete)
- Your first practice track
- Milestone parchment sharing in the free styles (Marcus and Days)
Stoic Days Plus (optional)
Plus unlocks optional depth. Examples include pattern insights, unlimited savings goals, custom marks, fuller Stoic library, longer journal tools and search, extra widgets / themes / reminder times, app lock, PDF and CSV export, Lock Screen Live Activity (glance), iCloud Drive JSON backup you choose to write, monthly wrap, discreet notifications, additional concurrent practices, Apple Watch day count and complications (Pause on Watch stays free), app backgrounds, extra parchment share styles, and full Stoic practice themes.
If a Plus entitlement expires, Plus features may become read-only or unavailable as designed; your day records are not deleted for that reason alone.
Purchases and Apple
If you buy Stoic Days Plus (for example monthly or annual), payment is handled by Apple through the App Store. Apple’s privacy practices apply to payment processing. We use StoreKit entitlement information to unlock Plus on your devices signed into the same Apple ID purchase. We do not receive your full card number from Apple for that purchase flow.
Backups you choose
On Plus, you may choose to write a JSON snapshot to iCloud Drive (or use device Files) and restore it later. That backup only happens when you use those controls. It is not CloudKit sync of your whole life to our servers. Records stay on the device unless you export or back them up yourself.
Notifications, Lock Screen, widgets, and Watch
If you allow notifications, the system delivers them locally according to your settings. Privacy Mode and related discreet options can quiet wording so Lock Screen, widgets, and notifications do not spell out sensitive practice details.
Glance (Lock Screen Live Activity / Dynamic Island) is designed to show a day count with a calm, lock-safe quote — not a next-milestone countdown line on the Lock Screen. Glance Live Activity is a Plus option. Home Screen widgets may also show your count; some larger widget options are Plus.
Apple Watch: Pause remains available without requiring Plus for day-count complications; day count on the Watch is a Plus option when gated that way in the app.
Photos and library access
If you grant photo library permission, it is so you can save a parchment card to Photos, or (with Plus) choose a personal photograph as the app background. The app does not need broad access to sell or upload your camera roll.
What we do not do
- Sell your journal or day history to advertisers
- Run third-party advertising SDKs in the app
- Operate a public social feed of your practice
- Require an account with us to keep a day
- Use your practice data to train a public generative AI product (the app does not include an AI coach)
Children
Stoic Days is intended for adults managing their own practice. It is not directed at children.
Your choices
- Export: create a file you control (JSON on the free tier; PDF/CSV options with Plus where offered).
- Delete: remove local records and related secrets (such as an app-lock secret) from the device using in-app delete controls.
- Privacy Mode / discreet surfaces: quieter wording on glance, widgets, and notifications.
- System permissions: notifications, photos, Face ID / device lock (where used) can be changed in iOS Settings.
- Subscriptions: manage or cancel in your Apple ID subscription settings.
Contact
For privacy questions about the app, use the support contact shown on the Stoic Days App Store listing once published, or start from Support. For emergencies, contact local emergency services — the app cannot respond in real time.
